Designing the 25th anniversary gig for the producer’s producer
Ask any music producer to name a revered British pop producer and it’s a good bet this man will be amongst their favourites.
Trevor Horn CBE has produced and played on some of the biggest singles and albums of the last 40 years. He’s collaborated with artists like Yes, Seal, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Grace Jones, ABC, Pet Shop Boys, Lisa Stansfield and Robbie Williams. He has a Grammy, three Brits Awards and an Ivor Novello to his name.
To celebrate 25 years in the music industry, his label ZTT Records asked us to help design a charity event called Produced by Trevor Horn, a 13-act Wembley concert in aid of The Prince’s Trust. We spoke to his manager on the Tuesday lunchtime and presented ideas on Thursday morning.
We designed the event branding, a double CD album, concert programme, flyers, posters, national press and magazine advertising and all the show merchandising — right down to the ubiquitous mug.
Some three hours after the show had opened with a note-perfect rendition of ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’, it all came to a glorious close. How did the show go? Let’s just say the audience were hoarse as the last act, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, left the stage.
This is one of many pieces of work we put together for ZTT Records, including this for Art of Noise.
