Letterpress business card

Control + entertainment

Integrated Experience are UK software developers specialising in the control of home automation systems. Marcus Jackson-Baker, MD, came to us for brand identity and imagery work for the {ie} website, to help distinguish the business in a design-conscious industry.

{ie}’s new logotype is a visual nod to the curly brackets used by coders to open and close an instruction. The typography is deliberately restrained and beautifully printed by the letterpress perfectionists at Blush.

{ie}’s monochrome typography is mixed with colour-saturated imagery. The images riff on the simple idea that {ie} is about two things: control and entertainment. Both desirable in themselves, but more powerful when combined. Developed on a modest budget, the brand imagery takes some memorable combinations and delivers them in unfamiliar ways using paintings, sketches, engravings, type and photos.

Special thanks are due to Tjalf Sparnaay of the Netherlands for the generous loan of his fried egg. Have a look at the original work, and many more besides, on Tjalf’s website.
